Waterfalls

1. Nauyaca Waterfall

The Nauyaca Waterfall is the famous waterfall in the Southern Pasific region.It is easily accessible from Dominical, Bahia Ballena and Perez Zeledon. The Falls are truly majestic, reaching 20 to 60 meters high.

The senses are all at a high level as you approach the Falls, beginning with a low murmur and reaching a crescendo as you actually reach the Falls

The pool created by the Falls is totally refreshing and is irresistible. No one will want to leave the area without devoting time for reflection and swimming in these crystalline waters.

Access to the falls is relatively easy, and in any case will only require a few minutes of hiking from the main road.

You can also get there by horseback riding tour or by a 4×4 auto.

2. El Pavon Waterfall/Tilapia Restaurant

Also known as the Pavón pool this incredible formation of nature is characterized by a gigantic overhead rock, which creates the impression that the water of the waterfall flows from under the rock.

This waterfall is located in Ciudad Cortes de Osa, in the upper part of the community of Punta Mala, 3.5 kilometers northeast of the bridge over the Punta Mala River. It is only 50 meters from the edge of the road. It has a maximum depth of approximately 4.4 meters where the water falls. It is at this point that visitors take the opportunity to dive in water temperature that reaches around 24 degrees in summer.

It is important to remember that close to this paradisiacal place, there are several restaurants where you can have lunch with delicious fresh Tilapia. If you wish you can catch your own Tilapia and ask the chef to cook it!

3. Uvita Waterfall

Located 10 minutes by car from Uvita, a thriving commercial center adjacent to the National Park, these Waterfalls are along a clearly marked road that leads to a privately owned farm. It has ample space for parking vehicles in an area that is protected from the sun by the shade of the trees.

The trip to the Waterfall, itself, is short and takes about five minutes. The cold water of the Waterfall is very refreshing and compensates FOR the warm temperature that is characteristic of the area.

4. Diamante Waterfall

Located between San Isidro de El General and Playa Dominical and hidden in the mountains is one of the highest waterfalls in Costa Rica.

The Waterfall is situated in the town of Las Tumbas in the district of Baru, 25 minutes from Dominical on the way to San Isidro. The Diamante Property which includes the Waterfalls, is an area of the rainforest that contains an amazing chain of waterfalls that starts at the top of a 400 meters row and ends with one of the highest waterfalls in the country, Catarata Diamante, with a height of 200 meters.

A tour of the Waterfalls starts at 8.30 a.m. with a two and a half hour walk with a guide. The terrain is somewhat difficult because it is all uphill. The terrain is somewhat halfway through the tour you will visit an organic garden and on a lucky day, you can observe pit vipers, toucans, several varieties of monkeys as well as sloths.

5. Eco Chontales Waterfalls.

The Eco Chontales Waterfall is located in Baru de Perez Zeledon. Reaching the falls only requires a 700 meters hike. These Falls offer the opportunity to bathe quietly or dive into the waters. The hike to reach the Falls is beginner level. Alternatively, the access road to the Falls is in good condition and you can travel there in any vehicle. Smaller than a minibus. You can also enjoy a horseback riding tour, camping and a restaurant that is open from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
